Educational course – municipal street lightning for municipal workers

Municipal street lightning could have a share of about 45% of the total electricity demand in small communities.

Adequate optimization could tremendously reduce the energy demand and save costs. Commonly, necessary knowledge for implementing these kind of measures is missing in municipalities. Austria’s first training programme for municipal street lights for municipal workers should enable the responsible persons to recognize saving potentials and to optimize the whole system.

The duration of the intensive training programme was three days and it contained topics like legal requirements, basic knowledge about lightning techniques, electrical engineering and economy. For a successful completion of the course, an examination had to be passed and as an highlight, a final excursion took place.
