Energy Agency Styria welcomed Japanese delegation

Graz, 30.08.2018 - A top-class delegation from Japan visited the Energie Agentur Steiermark in Graz at the end of August. The topic of the Japanese research trip was the successful implementation of regional energy policy and the interaction of the actors involved as well as Styria's Climate and Energy Strategy 2030.

The Japanese group of professors and researchers consisted of 13 experts from the field of climate protection and energy policy at regional level and represented prestigious institutions such as the Kyoto Center for Climate Change Action, Hokkaido University or the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology. The occasion of the journey is a wide ranging book project in which the regional energy policy and independent advisory organizations play a central role. As part of this, similar Austrian institutions have been already visited in Vienna, Vorarlberg, Tyrol and Lower Austria.

The visit to the Energy Agency Styria included the presentation of the Energy Agency by CEO Ing. Mag. Edgar Chum, a lecture on the Styrian Climate and Energy Strategy 2030 by the Climate Protection Coordinator of the Province Mag. Andrea Gössinger-Wieser and the presentation of the Styrian e5 Communities and “KEM” - climate and energy model regions by Mag. Alfred König (Head of field „Municipalities and Regions“) - Energy Agency Styria). This was followed by a discussion with exciting questions on energy policy in Styria and Austria.

We would like to thank the participants of the delegation for this exciting visit and especially Mrs. Kaori Takigawa-Wassmann for the excellent translation of the lectures. We wish you much success in the completion of the book project!
